You thought of me
Lyrics
You said no word
when you went to the cross
like a lamb to the slaughter
They tortured you
they put a crown of thornes on your head
And you thought of me in the moment of your death
and of millions you have chosen long before the earth was arisen
You thought of me as a child that you love and will follow you
on the way you have shown
The night before you cried you prayed let this cup pass by
You sweated blood
but you prayed let your will be done.
There on the cross you gave your life
for our sins you have been crucified
his hour of darkness was your victory
for your kingdom shall come
Conversation:
What inspired sister to write these lyrics and what is the message you are trying to convey in this song?
The purpose of this song is to let the listeners feel the passion of Christ. To see him how he suffered and to be aware, that he suffered the cross for me and you.
3 He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not.
Isaiah 53
Why was Jesus willing to suffer and die on the cross, and what does this sacrifice represent in Christian theology?
The bible says the price for sin is death.
23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Rom 6
Therefore, we all have to die, but not only physical. Without Christ we were spiritual death, too and the consequence would have been, that we all had to go to hell.
11 And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them.
12 And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.
13 And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works.
14 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.
15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.Rev 20
But God had mercy on us and gave us his son Jesus for to suffer the death for us. In Christian theology, Christ took the place on the cross for us and because of this, all who receive this gift can got free. They have peace with God and go to heaven after death.
18 And they cried out all at once, saying, Away with this man, and release unto us Barabbas:
19 (Who for a certain sedition made in the city, and for murder, was cast into prison.)33 And when they were come to the place, which is called Calvary, there they crucified him, and the malefactors, one on the right hand, and the other on the left.
34 Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do.Luke 23
45 Now from the sixth hour there was darkness over all the land unto the ninth hour.
46 And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani? that is to say, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?Matth 27
16 And the soldiers led him away into the hall, called Praetorium; and they call together the whole band.
17 And they clothed him with purple, and platted a crown of thorns, and put it about his head,
18 And began to salute him, Hail, King of the Jews!
19 And they smote him on the head with a reed, and did spit upon him, and bowing their knees worshipped him.Mark 15
30 Da nun Jesus den Essig genommen hatte, sprach er: Es ist vollbracht. Und neigte das Haupt und verschied.[1]
John 19
How does the idea of God offering forgiveness and salvation through Jesus’ death and resurrection impact the way Christians live their lives?
First, we have access to the throne of grace and can talk to God as our friend. Second is, that we would like to share the joy and peace we have got through the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
39 And many of the Samaritans of that city believed on him for the saying of the woman, which testified, He told me all that ever I did.
John 4
52 And the disciples were filled with joy, and with the Holy Ghost.
Acts 13
In what ways do the events described in the lyrics reflect larger themes of suffering, sacrifice, and redemption in human history and mythology?
In human history, they always offered persons to their pagan Gods. But this here is different: Jesus was man and God in one person. God himself paid and died for the sins of the world.
Jewish people always brought a lamb as a sacrifice every year, but they had to do it again and again, because it did not last forever. But the sacrifice of Jesus was forever and for all. We just must repent our sins and receive him.
How might different interpretations of the meaning and significance of Jesus’ death and resurrection affect the beliefs and practices of different Christian denominations?
(Actually, I hope through this question, sister could give me some more clear answers. Like last week in <The green miles>–That black man died. In the movie they consider him as Jesus’s substitute. Through his death or Jesus’ death, movie want to express for what?)
I used to say, we live in a religious time. People like to talk about God and black religions and a lot of strange things. The God in your movie, was certainly not the God of the bible and the bible is for to read and not for to be shown in a movie. So, you can say with 98% security, that religious movies are a falsification of the bible and the work of Jesus.
There are a lot of denominations who set their institution higher than the personal relationship to God. They preach that you must do religious acts and many who are members in this denomination are not aware, that they miss the grace of God by doing religious acts, because the bible don t teach religious acts, it teaches relationship with a living God.
How does the idea of being loved as a child and followed on a specific path relate to larger metaphysical or spiritual concepts, and what implications does it have for one’s purpose in life?
(Especially related to sister’s childhood life, pls talk about Jesus brings you how many big changes in your growth life.)
When I believe in God, childhood never ends. He is my father and I depend on him. When I pray about something, he decides if it is good for me or not and of course, he gives only if it is good for me.
The bible talks about the narrow door and the narrow path.
13 Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:
14 Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.Matthew 7
As a child of God, we are pilgrims in this world.
Since Jesus gives joy and peace in our heart, it is not necessary to make a lot of journeys or go to the disco or other places where common people find amusement.
13 Jesus answered and said unto her, Whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again:
14 But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.John 4
And we don t miss it, too, because we live with our God, and we are waiting for a good time to come.
When Jesus says, whom he drinks my living water will never thirst again, he refers on this. That I can live a satisfied live without adding something from the world. In Jesus I have all.
